DILLIGAF (PTU)

I wrote this tutorial using PSPX2 and Animation Shop3

I am using the awesome artwork of Elias Chatzoudis.  You must have a license to use his art and you can purchase the tube and get your license at PTE

I am using a rockin’ kit by Tamie called Pirate Babe and you can purchase it at Dreams-N-Digital

Template by Aqua & Kaci KNA_CM_collabtemp1 at Creative Misfits

Mask by weescotslass creations WSL_Mask344 here

My Supplies here

Plug ins used:
Eye Candy 5 Impact / Glass
dsb flux / Bright Noise
Eye Candy 4000 / Gradient Glow

Fonts Used:
Long Cool Mother
Rapscallion

**c&p=Copy and Paste As New Layer

**When working with duplicate layers, I always refer to them as 1st, 2nd, 3rd…from the bottom up (in this case, 4th, 5th and 6th, as well)

Open Temp and Duplicate (Shift+D), close original.  Resize template 90%

Remember, when resizing elements, within your image, to uncheck the Resize all layers box

Resize Canvas to 754 X 754
(I know it’s odd but that’s what I ended up with somehow and I don’t want to go back and rewrite and take new screen shots)

Delete credits, pixel wordart, Glitter Circle and Glitter Rectangles 1, 2 &3, Wordart and Wordart Background, Kacimask and Bitch Mask
Resize antique motion trail-Kaci Mask 105%.

We are going to add frames to the rectangles and the circle.
Starting with your Purple Rectangle, Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Select>Modify>Select Selection borders with these settings

Open New Raster Layer, name it Frame 1 and Flood Fill your selection (I used gray until I was done with my image and then went back and changed the colors).
Repeat for black rectangle and name the layer Frame 2
Repeat for grad rectangle and name the layer Frame 3
Repeat for grad circle and name the layer Circle Frame

Papers
Activate any one of your rectangles or your circle layer, with your pick tool, click on the transparent part of the layer, c&p paper of your choice, position to your liking and hit Delete on your keyboard, Select>None.  Repeat for the remaining shapes of the template.

Tubes: c&p your main tube and your CU above the Circle Frame and position the main tube to your liking (hide the CU for now)
Activate your Circle Frame layer and, with your Magic Wand set to add, click on the inside of the frame.  Now grab your Freehand selection tool (the lasso); Selection type: Point to point, Mode: Add, and select the areas of the tube that you want to keep.  Mine looked like this

Select>Invert and hit Delete on your keyboard

Make your CU visible and Duplicate. Activate your 1st CU layer, Rotate 35o Left, Resize 70%, arrange above the paper layer over your grad rectangle and position to the left, set Blend Mode to Soft Light, Activate your paper layer below it, select the transparent area with your Magic wand, activate the tube again and hit Delete on the keyboard.
Activate your 2nd CU, arrange layer to just above the paper layer, position to liking, Blend Mode: Soft Light and cut away the excess the same way you did with the 1st CU layer.

Ribbon3: Resize 80%, position under bottom right of Frame 3 (if you have added any Drop Shadows to Frame 3, arrange the 1st ribbon below the Frame 3 shadow/s), Desaturate, Manual Color Correction Source: #050505, Target: #eda23a, Add Drop Shadows to the ribbon layer, checking the box Shadow on new layer, and merge the shadows together. Duplicate your ribbon and arrange the duplicate layer above your main tube layer

Activate Frame 3, Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, activate your 2nd ribbon layer and erase the parts of the ribbon that you don’t want covering the frame.  Activate your 1st ribbon’s shadow layer and copy, open New Raster Layer below your 2nd ribbon layer and Paste Into Selection

Wire: c&P as top layer (so that you can see what you are working with), resize 75%, move down to bottom right corner, Duplicate, Flip, using your Pick tool, adjust the values in Position X and Position Y to line up your wire together.

(Do not enter the same values that I have here.  Your values will depend on the position of your original wire layer)
Line up your wire together, Merge Down, Duplicate, Mirror and line up again with your Pick tool, Merge Down and position and arrange to your liking (I arranged mine just below my Circle)
Once I was done with that, I erased some parts so that it was not so symmetrical and brightened it up a bit: Adjust>Brightness and Contrast>Brightness/Contrast with these settings

Open my pixel wordart , c&p above your circle, using your pick tool, change only the values Position X: 144, Position Y: 155, Blend Mode: Soft Light, Duplicate and lower the Opacity of the Duplicate layer to 75%.  Merge Down the 1st Pixel layer onto your paper and then the 2nd

String: c&p above the Circle Frame layer, mirror, Resize 103% and position to your liking (If you position it right, it will appear to wrap around ribbon3, I added Drop Shadows to the rope

Bow: c&p, Rotate 20o Left, Resize 75%, position to your liking

Cross Swords

Sword: c&p, grab your pick tool and change Position X: 213

Duplicate the sword and mirror, I added a Drop Shadow to the duplicate layer both directions with these settings

*note that the Shadow on new layer box is checked*

Activate your 2nd sword layer again and apply a 2nd Drop Shadow change the Vertical and Horizontal values to 1 leaving the rest the same.  Merge your 2 Shadows, activate your 1st sword layer, Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Select>Invert, activate your merged shadow layer and hit Delete on your keyboard, Select>None; activate your 2nd sword layer and Merge Down onto your shadow and Merge Down again onto your 1st sword layer, mirror and rotate 25o Left, Resize 48%, and position to your liking, Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Activate your bow layer, Duplicate and arrange the Duplicate above your swords.  Erase the parts of your bow that you don’t want covering your swords, Select None and erase the rest of the bow that you don’t need

Bow3: Rotate 25o Right, Resize 40%, position to right to your liking

Palm tree:  position behind tube, Adjust>Brightness and Contrast> Brightness/Contrast>Brightness: 55, Contrast: 55

Shipswheel: c&p, Rotate 20o Right, Resize 75%, Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen, position to right to your liking, this will require that you erase more of your second layer of ribbon3 so that you can see the whole shipwheel and Drop Shadows, if you have any.

Flag2: c&p, Mirror, Rotate 20o Right, Resize 75%, position to left

Metal label: resize 40%, position at the bottom of your image, Adjust>Brightness and Contrast>Clarify>Strength of effect: 7.0

DILLIGAF text: set your foreground and background colors to #5c8539, with the Long Cool Mother font and these settings (Your font size may be different)

type out DILLIGAF
Convert to Raster, apply Glass with these settings; Glass Color: #84b344

Adjust> Brightness and Contrast>Brightness/Contrast, Brightness: 9, Contrast: 39

Apply Drop shadow with these settings *note that the Shadow on new layer box is NOT checked*

Repeat the Drop Shadow changing only the Vertical and Horizontal values to -1

Bomb
Bomb2: c&p, Mirror, Resize 50%

Open Wick Sparkles from my supplies and, starting with Sparkles1, c&p over the bomb layer (DO NOT MOVE), repeat for the other 5 layers, they should be locked together, if not, lock all the sparkle layers together before moving them.
Position the bomb to your liking and then move the sparkles to the end of the bomb wick. Lock the bomb layer to the sparkles layers (I added Drop Shadows to the bomb on the same layer), Duplicate the bomb 5X. Arrange your bomb layers so that you have one bomb under each sparkle layer, then Merge Down each Sparkle layer onto the bomb below it.

Mask
Open your mask and minimize.  Activate your background layer, open New Raster Layer and flood fill with a color of your choice (I used #b08bb8).  Right click on the layer, in your Layers Palette, and select New Mask Layer>From Image, select your mask from the drop down menu like this

Your Mask Layer should be active.  Grab your pick tool and just pull the sides of the mask to the edges.

Right click on your mask and Merge>Merge Group, lower Opacity to 60%.

Add your copyright and license info and add a light Gradient Glow to make it stand out better

 Name
Grab your Text tool and select the Rapscallion Font; set your Background color to a color of your choice and Foreground Transparent, type in the name, click Apply, Rotate 25o Left, name this layer Name Vector, Duplicate (hide the Name Vector) Convert To Raster and Duplicate again

Activate your 1st name layer and apply Gradient Glow.  Under the Colors tab select Medium and change the color to black, click OK.

Animation

If you are adding Drop Shadows to anything that you are animating, make sure you do this BEFORE adding the animation and check the box Shadow on new layer

Now, make Visible Only the layers between the each layer that you are going to animate, including the Drop Shadows for that animated layer and Merge Visible.  Your Layers Palette should look like this

**Note that none of the name layers are included because I always save my image so that I can go back and add another name at any time

We are going to make this one really simple…we are only adding Bright Noise to the frames and the name for animation…the bomb is already animated

Duplicate all your layers 5 (except for the name layers and the bombs)

Activate your 1st Frame1 layer and apply Bright Noise with these settings

Repeat for all the Frame layers, working from the bottom up, clicking on Mix 2X for each layer.

Now right click on your 1st background layer and select View>Current Only; then, make the first layer of each group visible (excluding the name layers), right click on your Background layer again and Merge>Merge Visible, make this merged layer invisible and repeat these steps for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th layers of each group.

Right click on one of the layers and select View>View All and Crop
This is where I save as a .psp for WWO’s

Duplicate (Shift+D) and close your original.

Delete the Name Vector layer and activate your Second Name layer, Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat. Merge Down onto your 1st layer that has the Gradient Glow and duplicate 5X.

Activate your 1st name layer and apply Bright Noise to all 6 name layers, following the same steps as before, with the frames, Select>None.  Merge each name layer with it’s corresponding merged layer.

Resize to your liking and either save as a .psd or a .psp (animation shop) and open in Animation Shop 3 or you can copy your 1st layer and Paste As New Animation in AS3, copy the 2nd layer and Paste After Current Frame, repeating for all layers (I prefer to just save as a .psd and open in AS3)

Select All (Ctrl+A), Frame Properties (Alt+Enter)=13, Optimize (Shift+Z)

 Walla...you are done:)
